S2000 CR Steering Rack Stabilizers

Just through browsing the parts catalogue for the S2000 CR, I came across these additional braces that the CR steering rack has. There’s a front brace that connects the two bushings together, and the rear brace that connects the two rear bushings to the subframe. The CR steering rack has an additional mounting tab for the rear brace. In order to fit this on a standard S2000 subframe, I used a rivet nut as well as a metal spacer. Only the air box needs to be removed, if you have swivel sockets, it will make it easier.

Part Numbers:

53439-S2A-S01

53437-S2A-S00

The two braces from Honda.

The rivet nut installed, pretty straight forward, I installed the rear brace to template where the hole should be drilled and punched. I used an M8×1.25 rivet nut and corresponding M8×1.25 40mm bolt.

I tried using a hack job method of pressing the rivet nut by using a nut and washers and the bolt to pull the rivet nut up but this did not work well. I ended up getting a rivet nut tool to get the job done.

The rear brace installed and bolted up, the rear brace will sit about 1” higher than the subframe, so I used a 1” steel spacer to fill in the gap. The CR subframe’s bracket is raised up to meet the brace.

The front brace which just connects the two bushings together one another.

This is one of my favorite mods I’ve done, the steering is noticeable sharper, I believe running 200tw 255 tires in the front puts extra strain on the steering rack and causes extra play. After installing these two braces, it feels like I can’t turn the wheel at all without the front reacting. Feels razor sharp steering now.
